Eleocharis parvula (Dwarf Hairgrass)
Eleocharis parvula, commonly known as Dwarf Hairgrass, is one of the most popular carpeting plants used in freshwater aquariums. Its thin grass-like blades create a lush, natural lawn that closely resembles underwater meadow landscapes. When given proper lighting and nutrients, this plant spreads by runners to form a dense green carpet across the aquarium substrate.
Dwarf Hairgrass is a versatile plant suitable for both nature-style aquascapes and minimalist aquariums. It works especially well in the foreground of planted tanks and pairs beautifully with stones and driftwood.
This plant benefits from moderate to high lighting and nutrient-rich substrate or regular fertilization. CO₂ injection is not required but will significantly accelerate growth and carpet formation.
Our Eleocharis parvula plants are grown in pots at our nursery in Winnipeg, Canada to ensure strong, healthy root systems. For shipping efficiency and plant safety, pots are removed prior to shipment.
